1. Introduction
“Arbor Law” is the trading name of Arbor Law Limited, a limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 11547813, with registered office at 20 North Audley Street, London W1K 6WE, United Kingdom. Arbor Law Limited is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (“SRA”) under SRA number 654708.
These terms of use (“Terms”) apply to the whole or any part of the web pages located at www.arbor.law (including the layout and design of this site, graphics, logos, articles and any other content of this site) (the “Site”). These Terms explain how you may use Arbor Law’s Site. By using our Site, you confirm that you accept these Terms and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use our Site. We recommend that you print a copy of these Terms for future reference.
Variation
We amend these Terms from time to time. Every time you wish to use our Site, please check these Terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time. By using our Site after we have posted changes, you agree to be bound by them.
Intellectual property
We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in our Site, and in the material published on it. Our trademarks, logos, service marks and content are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our Site for your personal use, and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to content posted on our Site.
You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.
Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of content on our Site must always be acknowledged.
You must not use any part of the content on our Site for commercial purposes without obtaining a licence to do so from us. Copying or downloading material from this Site does not transfer ownership of that material to you, and you must not remove or obscure any copyright or other notices contained in any information or software you download.
If you send us any material via enquiry, comment, feedback or other communication through this Site, you grant Arbor Law a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, store and reproduce that communication for the purpose of responding to you and operating the Site. Nothing in these Terms grants Arbor Law any rights in confidential information or documents you share with us in the course of a separate client engagement, which are governed by our retainer and applicable professional obligations.
If you print off, copy, download, share or repost any part of our Site in breach of these Terms, your right to use our Site will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.
No text or data mining, or web scraping
You shall not conduct, facilitate, authorise or permit any text or data mining or web scraping in relation to our Site or any services provided via, or in relation to, our Site. This includes using (or permitting, authorising or attempting the use of):
- any “robot”, “bot”, “spider”, “scraper” or other automated device, program, tool, algorithm, code, process or methodology to access, obtain, copy, monitor or republish any portion of the Site or any data, content, information or services accessed via the same; and
- any automated analytical technique aimed at analysing text and data in digital form to generate information, including (without limitation) patterns, trends and correlations.
The provisions in this section should be treated as an express reservation of our rights in this regard, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of Digital Copyright Directive ((EU) 2019/790) and any equivalent or successor provisions under the laws of England and Wales.
This section shall not apply insofar as (but only to the extent that) we are unable to exclude or limit text or data mining or web scraping activity by contract under the laws which are applicable to us.
The restrictions in this section are in addition to, and do not limit, the prohibitions on the use of automated systems set out in the section headed “Acceptable use” below.
Disclaimers
No reliance on information
The content on our Site is provided for general information only. It is not intended to amount to advice on which you should rely, and is not a substitute for legal or other professional advice. You must obtain professional or specialist advice before taking, or refraining from, any action on the basis of the content on our Site. Content is current as at the date of writing and may quickly become out of date.

Limitation of liability
Arbor Law’s liability for any loss or damage that you or any third party suffer or incur in the event of any failure or interruption of this Site, or resulting from the act or omission of any party involved in making this Site, the use of or reliance on information or data contained herein, or from any other cause relating to your access to, inability to access, or use of the Site shall be limited to the greater of the sums you have paid to us in the past 12 months and £100
In no event will Arbor Law or any such parties be liable to you or any third party, whether in tort (including, without limitation, negligence), contract, breach of statutory duty or otherwise, for any loss of income, loss of profits, loss of sales, loss of business or revenue, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business opportunity, goodwill or reputation, loss of data or for any indirect and consequential loss arising from or connected to the use of this Site or any information or data contained herein, including your ability to access the Site, even if foreseeable or if Arbor Law or any other such party has been advised of the possibility thereof. This limitation on liability includes, but is not limited to, the transmission of any viruses which may infect a user’s equipment, failure of mechanical or electronic equipment or communication lines, telephone or other interconnect problems (e.g., you cannot access your internet service provider), unauthorised access, theft, operator errors, strikes or other labour problems or any force majeure. Arbor Law will also not be responsible for any loss or damage that could result from interception by third parties of any information made available to you via this Site.
Arbor Law cannot and does not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted or secure access to the Site.
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude any liability of Arbor Law for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, from our fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited by English law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Viruses and misuse
We do not guarantee that the Site will be secure or free from bugs or viruses. You are responsible for configuring your information technology, computer programmes and platform in order to access our Site. You should use your own virus protection software. You must not misuse the Site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Site, the server on which our Site is stored, or any server, computer or database connected to our Site. You must not attack our Site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack.
By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities, and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, your right to use our Site will cease immediately.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of the Site by, any third party. In particular, you agree not to:
- use the Site in any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation, or is unlawful or fraudulent;
- use the Site to send, knowingly receive, upload, download or use any material which does not comply with our content standards or which infringes any third party’s intellectual property or other rights;
- use the Site to transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any similar form of solicitation (spam);
- use any automated system, including without limitation robots, spiders, scrapers or offline readers, to access the Site, except for public search engines indexing the Site for the purpose of creating publicly available searchable indices of the materials; or
- collect or harvest any information or data from the Site or our systems or attempt to decipher any transmissions to or from the servers running the Site.
Arbor Law reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.

Use of our Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by this reference.
Third-party links
Where our Site contains links to other sites and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only. Such links should not be interpreted as approval by us of those linked websites or any information you may obtain from them. We have no control over the contents of those sites or resources, and Arbor Law will not be responsible for them or for your use of or inability to use them. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and your use of the Site shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales without regard to its conflicts of laws principles. Any legal action or proceeding related to this Site shall be brought exclusively in the English courts.
Severability
If any part of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, that part will be severed and the rest of these Terms will continue to apply. We may alter or delete materials from our Site at any time.
